SULLIVAN — Shut out against Union last Friday night, Nathan Cabot’s Owensville Dutchmen football team looked to get back on the winning track Friday night on the road in Franklin County against Sullivan’s Eagles.

Committing three turnovers and being flagged for 75 yards in penalties, Owensville’s offense had a hard time finding a rhythm before falling 26-0 to the host Eagles.

“We made way too many mistakes on both sides of the ball tonight,” Cabot said. “We did have some injuries but hopefully we can get healthy in time for next Friday at St. Clair and districts.”

Allowing a touchdown in each quarter, Owensville nearly kept Sullivan off the scoreboard in the fourth quarter before their snap on a punt attempt went out of the back of the end zone for a safety with 3:23 remaining.

Sophomore quarterback Connor Fisher was 9-19 passing for 74 yards through the air and an interception.

Of Owensville’s 59 yards rushing, Fisher led the orange and black with 37 yards on 10 carries.

Bryce Payne and Tanner Meyer each ran for nine yards.

Gabe Soest caught one pass for 29 yards to lead the Dutchmen receiving corps against Sullivan.

Defensive stats from Sullivan were not available at press time.

OHS will look to end their regular season on a winning note Friday night on the road at St. Clair against the Bulldogs with a 7 p.m., kickoff.

Former Dutchmen lineman Jarett Payne was named the eighth-grade Dutchmen head basketball coach during Monday night’s meeting of the Gasconade County R-2 Board of Education by a unanimous 7-0 vote.
