Phyllis Marie Verhulst, 79, Owensville, passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at her residence.
She was born June 4, 1941, to John and Evelyn (Jaekar) Derma, in Chicago, Ill.
She was united in marriage to James Verhulst Sept. 29, 1962, in Chicago, Ill.
Phyllis was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville, Lions Club, VFW Auxiliary, the Garden Club, and she was the president of the bingo committee at the Owensville senior center.
Phyllis touched the lives of all that had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Heaven gained an Angel today.
She was preceded in death by parents, John and Evelyn; and brother-in-law, Peter Rybak.
She is survived by husband, James, of the home; children, Paul Verhulst and wife Melanie of St. Charles, Sandy Dobson and husband Jim of Kirkwood and Bonnie Verhulst of St. Charles; sisters, Kathie Warta and husband Marty of Chicago and Geri Rybak of California; and grandchildren, Sami Verhulst, Andrew Verhulst, Evan Dobson and Kira Dobson.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 18, from 9-11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Wayne Boyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Please observe covid restrictions. The family is requesting that masks are mandatory. Memorials are requested to Helping Hands Outreach.
