During a special meeting on April 30, the Gasconade County R-2 Board of Education approved the resignation of Owensville Elementary School Principal Dr. Scott Davidson.

Superintendent Dr. Chuck Garner said Friday afternoon after the 8 a.m. meeting that the board wanted to approve Davidson’s resignation and approve other employment as soon as possible.

“We want to get that posted as quick as we can,” Garner said. “And we had an art teacher that wanted to be under contract.”

Davidson’s resignation was approved with a 5-0 vote from directors and he will be released from his contract at the end of the 2020-21 school year. He will be moving his employment to the Crawford R-2 School District in Cuba as assistant superintendent.

“We plan to post that position later this afternoon,” Garner said on Friday.

During the meeting, the board also released sixth-grade math teacher Haley Smith from her 2020-21 contract and approved the employment of Katie Borcherding as the 2021-22 Gerald Elementary School art teacher.

Borcherding will take the position from current GES art teacher Jesse Bayless, who is transferring to the high school.

The board also approved the transfer of Kristen Breese, Owensville Middle School paraprofessional, to activities secretary for the 2021-22 school year.

All resignations, an employment and a transfer were approved with 5-0 votes.
