R-2 board hires Rosemann as OMS assistant principal

Gasconade County R-2 directors on Monday approved Kelley Rosemann to replace Ken Hunott as Owensville Middle School assistant principal in the 2020-21 school year with a 6-0 vote.

“I feel like we are going to work well together and will continue to review and reflect and do what is best for kids,” said Middle School (OMS) Principal Teresa Schulte.

Rosemann has been employed at OMS for three years as an eighth-grade social studies teacher. Before coming to the district, was taught fifth grade for two years.

“I’m super excited,” Schulte said. “We will keep doing what we do and she is going to be a great asset. She brings a lot of ELA, classroom, and content experience with her.”

Rosemann was one of 30 applicants for the position.

“We interviewed around 12 and she definitely stood out to the committee,” Schulte said. “She brings a lot of enthusiasm, common sense, loves kids and she is super positive.

Rosemann is expected to take on her new administrative role on July 1. Hunott announced his intent to retire at the board’s December meeting — effective at the end of the current school year.

The board of education accepted the resignations of Rebecca Lorey, high school math teacher; Magan Thompson, sixth grade ELA teacher; Mable Paquin, high school English teacher; Alex Gleeson, sixth grade social studies teacher; and Jodi Jahnsen, bus driver, with 6-0 votes.

Retirements accepted the board included Jennifer Hall, Gerald Elementary School principal, and Carol Gooch with 6-0 votes.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jeri Kay Hardy’s contract was extended through 2021-22 with a 6-0 vote.

Administrator re-employment for the 2021-22 school year included Kris Altemeyer,high school principal; John Bunch, assistant high school principal; Dr. Scott Davidson, Owensville Elementary principal; Casey Fisher, director of technology; Roberta Pennock, director of special services; Tricia Ridder, Owensville Elementary assistant principal, and Teresa Schulte, middle school principal with a 6-0 vote.

The board approved hiring Kerry Eidson, seventh grade science teacher, and Amy Pohlmann, OES principal’s secretary, for the 2020-21 school year with a 6-0 vote.

Megan Young was transferred from GES fourth grade to sixth grade English Language Arts for the 2020-21 school year with a 6-0 vote.
