Gasconade County R-2 School District’s Board of Education, meeting Tuesday due to the Monday holiday, awarded two substantial bids for building improvements.

Two bids were submitted for a Gerald Elementary School boiler project.

“It is the recommendation to go with the low bid from Bendler Boiler,” according to the agenda for the meeting. Bender was the apparent low bidder to specifications for the boiler at $131,036. TMI bid the work for $178,279. Bender Boiler was also the low bidder for a chiller option at $136,159 compared to the TMI bid of $143,520.

The bid for the boiler was the only one highlighted on the information provided to the board ahead of the meeting.

The recommended motion for the award was “that the Board of Education approve the bid from Bendler Boiler, in the amount not to exceed $131,036, for the GES Boiler project.”

R-2 directors also awarded a “bid from Watkins, in the amount not to exceed $367,989, for the high school roofing project.”

The apparent low bid from Watkins included a base bid of $338,045 for roofing work and $29,944 for fascia work.

Three other bids were received for the project including one for $341,295 from the firm ARS. The firm’s bid did not include a price quote for the fascia work.

Missouri Builders bid the entire project for $394,394 which included $362,531 for the roofing work and $31,863 for fascia work.

Weathercraft also bid the entire project. Weathercraft’s bid for roofing work was $366,541 and $24,498 for fascia work for a combined total of $391,039.

The difference between the winning bid  and the highest bid was just $23,050 when the three complete bids were compared.
