R-2 harriers bring home 11 medals and a plaque from Loutre Shore

After all five races of the Hermann Cross Country Invitational at Loutre Shore Country Club were contested last Tuesday, a total of 11 medals and one team championship plaque went back down Highway 19 to Owensville High School.

In middle school girls action, Kennedy Reams was Owensville’s lone medalist with a 17th-place time of 15:33.5.

Also helping Owensville place eighth in the middle school girls team standings were Jolie Vandegriffe (23rd, 16:19.4), Ellie Albright (39th, 17:51.7), Gracie Rosselli (49th, 18:26.6.), Addi Meyer (52nd, 18:35.0), Ella Niederer (54th, 18:43.0), Allyson Smith (72nd, 20:52.1) and Lilly Kahmke (88th, 29:00.9).

Next on the course were OMS’ Dutchmen during the middle school boys race.

Led by race medalists Grayson Lairmore (12th, 12:49.9) and Kyle Korff (17th, 13:09.4), Owensville placed second as a team with 108 points behind St. James’ 42 points.

Other OMS Dutchmen on the course included Robbie Rodriguez (24th, 13:43.8), Chris Wehmeyer (25th, 13:46.0), Ricky Ringeisen (30th, 14:17.8), Liam Kramme (32nd, 14:20.0), Max Altemeyer (34th), Garrett Ringeisen (49th, 15:24.2), Dustin Manson (53rd, 15:43.1), Michael Anderson (61st, 16:12.0), Hunter Anderson (70th, 16:36.1), Dylan Dietrich (75th, 16:54.1), Braden Kemp (92nd, 18:31.6), Seth Mitcham (93rd, 18:31.7) and Logan Hackstedt (112th, 23:42.0).

High school action started with the JV boys race in which Owensville’s Dutchmen placed fourth as a team.

Xavier Bayless (9th, 21:10.08) and Bryce Kramme (13th, 21:27.6) both earned medals from Loutre Shore for Matt Candrl’s Owensville JV Dutchmen harriers.

Also on the course for Owensville’s JV Dutchmen were Nick Hinson (24th, 23:27.7), Daimeyn Rogers (38th, 26:52.9) and Ethan Blankenship (40th, 27:01.8).

Varsity racing began with Owensville’s Dutchgirls topping the team standings with 48 points thanks to four runners finishing in the top nine.

Ilene Limberg showed the way for the field with a winning time of 20:16.4 followed in the medals by OHS teammates Brynn Wright (4th, 21:45.5), Abbie Gibson (6th, 22:04.6) and Hannah Gehlert (9th, 22:28.1).

Varsity Dutchgirls also on the course for OHS included Elaina Lebish (34th, 25:59.3), Leola Hamann (38th, 26:12.4), Arianna Baguio (44th, 27:44.5), Annalise Dryer (45th, 27:47.9) and Morgen Schmidt (59th, 29:33.7).

Capping the evening of racing was the varsity boys in which three Dutchmen harriers earned medals with their top-20 finishes helping them place fourth as a team.

Zach Holtmeyer led the orange and black with a fourth-place time of 17:39.5 followed by fellow OHS medalists Drake Dietrich (18th, 19:10.4) and Kyle Bollman (20th, 19:29.3).

Fellow varsity Dutchmen on the course for OHS included Cristopher Reyes (21st, 19:33.4), Tristan Strothkamp (22nd, 19:44.8) and Westin Kramme (26th, 20:06.1).

Racing on their home course last night (Tuesday), OMS and OHS harriers will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the annual Four Rivers Conference (FRC) Cross Country meet to be held at the St. Clair Airport. Racing will begin at 2:30 p.m.
