SULLIVAN — Find their way into the top 15.

That was the goal last Tuesday for Matt Candrl’s Owensville High School (OHS) cross country runners during the annual Four Rivers Conference (FRC) Cross Country meet hosted by Sullivan High School at the Campbell-Chapman Sports Complex.

In the first of six races, Dutchgirl freshman Ilene Limberg was going for her third consecutive FRC individual title dating back to middle school.

Leading the varsity girls race wire-to-wire, Limberg won the race in a time of 20:13.78 nearly eight seconds ahead of Hermann sophomore Amelia Uthlaut.

Dutchgirl senior Kyah Weirich grabbed the final spot on the All-FRC list with a 15th-place time of 23:08.86.

Varsity Dutchgirls also helping OHS to a fourth-place team finish included Lauren Kandlbinder (18th), Peyton Weinland (30th), Saylor Richardson (31st), Hayden Loeb (32nd) and Abbie Gibson (37th).

Next on the course were the varsity Dutchmen.

Winning their own meet the previous Tuesday, OHS looked to carry that momentum into the FRC meet.

Seeing their top-five runners place 21st or better, Owensville (67) placed second in the team standings behind Union (37).

Junior Lucas Morgan led the Dutchmen with a ninth-place time of 18:21.42 earning him All-FRC 2nd Team honors.

Senior Harm Rademacher equaled Weirich’s earlier finish posting a 15th-place time of 18:48.06 earning him All-FRC Honorable Mention status.

Sophomore Felix Guerrero just missed All-FRC accolades placing 17th in 18:52.05.

Other varsity Dutchmen helping OHS to a second-place team finish were Jacob Breedlove (20th), Freddy Zheng (21st), Gabe Soest (26th), Noah Holtmeyer (34th) and Sam Hoffman (45th).

Marking the midway point of the meet was the junior varsity girls race from Sullivan.

Consisting primarily of Dutchgirls and Lady Eagles, Owensville won the JV girls team title with 26 points just ahead of Sullivan’s 29 team points.

Sophomore Katelyn Holtzer won the race in a time of 26:44.16 followed in second place by Dutchgirl teammate Elaina Lebish’s time of 26:59.51.

Cassidy Gooch (8th, 30:14.21) and Stephanie Cain (9th, 31:14.77) also earned medals with their top-10 finishes.

Kaeori Butler (15th, 35:43.18) capped Owensville’s FRC JV Girls team title in spite of finishing just behind Sullivan’s fifth runner.

Owensville’s JV Dutchmen made it a sea of orange in the junior varsity boys race.

Taking the top three spots for the orange and black were Trevor Shockley (1st, 19:20.02), Tristan Davis (2nd, 20:09.05) and Derek Carey (3rd, 20:21.94).

Just missing medals were the JV Dutchmen trio of Xavier Bayless (11th, 21:52.34), Andrew Blankenship (13th, 22:14.61) and Jayden Barnett (15th, 22:39.75).

Those six runners helped Owensville claim the FRC JV Boys Team Title with 19 points ahead of Hermann’s 42 team points.

Other JV Dutchmen on the course included Aidan Ward (17th), Sam Nicks (18th), Trenton Million (19th), Brandon Graham (20th), Kyle Bollman (21st), Elias Medlock (23rd), Jim Jenkins (26th), Eli Graham (30th) and Jayden Stewart (32nd).

OMS Cross Country coached by Tyler Ahring and Megan (Dunlap) Young captured both FRC titles to end the meet.

Chris Allen led the OMS Dutchmen with a third-place time of 12:25.13 while Corbyn Hamann also earned a medal for his sixth-place time of 12:37.74.

Lainey Branson led the OMS Dutchgirls with a third-place time of 13:33.44 followed closely by Hannah Gehlert’s fifth-place time of 13:59.27.

Makenzi Carpenter snagged the last medal with a 10th-place time of 14:41.27.
