R-2 reviews CTE Program expansion plans

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program at Owensville High School (OHS) continues to review expansion possibilities with the $336,960 Limited Access Grant awarded in December 2024, according to Assistant Superintendent Dr. Staci Johnson.

“The next step right now is we’re quoting all the various equipment pieces we need to make sure we are getting the best product we can for the best price,” Johnson said.

The Gasconade County R-2 Board of Education is still in discussion about the final project and the timeline. The grant requires a June allocation date and implementation of the program in August.

“I’m guessing it will be a discussion item in the upcoming board meetings,” Hardy confirmed. “We still have the grant and we are still on track.”

Grant funds were allocated from the state budget and are not part of a federal program.

“There is no worry about the money not being there for us to access,” Johnson said.
