Whatever it takes.

That is something that now former Owensville Dutchgirl track and field athlete Mackenzie Rademacher has done to get herself to the next level.

Garnering All-District honors as a sophomore and a junior, Rademacher will take her talents to the college scene at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg.

“When she gets to UCM, they’re going to find an athlete who will do whatever is needed to be successful,” OHS head track and field coach Matt Candrl said of Rademacher. “She has been a student of the sport since middle school and coach Tucker Woosley at UCM will be impressed with her knowledge and understanding of the throwing events.”

Throughout her OHS career, Rademacher threw her way into the top 10 in school history in both the shot put and discus.

One of eight girls to throw at least 36 feet in the shot put, Rademacher recorded the seventh-best throw in school history with a mark of 36 feet, five inches during a home quad meet at Dutchmen Field back on April 2 of last year.

In the discus, Rademacher was also one of eight Dutchgirls to reach triple digits in distance.

Posting a mark of 116-10 a week later at Union during the spring of 2019, Rademacher posted the fifth-best discus throw in school history.

UCM will also have the hammer throw to challenge Rademacher.

“I am very excited for Mackenzie to be continuing her passion in track as a Jennie at UCM,” OHS assistant track coach Jamie Ridenhour said. “She is going to be a great asset to their team because of her strong worth ethic, her determination to excel and her love of throwing.

UCM’s track program was not the only factor that lured Rademacher to Warrensburg.

“I chose UCM because they had a strong academic program as well as a strong track program,” Rademacher said. “When I visited and talked to the coaches, we shared a lot of the same values and I’m really look forward to starting there this fall.

Rademacher will be majoring in agricultural education which is right up her alley considering her strong background and involvement with the OHS chapter of the Future Farmers of America (FFA).

Rademacher defended her home track of Dutchmen Field in what turned out to be her final season last spring at OHS.

Along with her win at the aforementioned quad, Mack also took first place at the annual Owensville Relays 10 days later with a winning throw of 35-10.
