Raymond E. Gaddy, 85, Largo, Fla, formerly of Owensville, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, surrounded by loving family at his residence.

He was born April 13, 1937, to Vivian Eugene and Dorothy Johnson Murdock in Martins Ferry, Ohio. Early in life, his mother married Charles “Roy” Gaddy. He chose to legally change his name to Raymond E. Gaddy to honor his close relationship with his step-dad Roy.

He was united in marriage to Delores Geer Gaddy in 1980.

Ray served in the U.S. Marines. He worked with step-dad Roy in his oil solvent business before going into the Marines. When he returned he worked in a tool mill, before returning to the oil solvent business. He had a successful farming operation, with his son’s help. He was also in sales and real estate. He also owned and operated a daycare with his wife call Grandma and Grandpa’s House in Dublin, Ohio.

Ray was preceded in death by parents Vivian and Dorothy; step-father Charles Roy Gaddy; brother-in-law Paul Pike; ex-wife Patricia R. Pike Gaddy; daughter Susan Renee Stearns; grandchildren Narelle Flagg and Alex Thomas; and five great-grandchildren.

He is survived by wife of 41 years, Delores; children Steven R. Gaddy and wife Kim of Owensville, Lisa M. Dudley Zimmerman and husband Robert, Gregory L. Stearns, Sheryl A. Fellers and husband Rick, Daniel W. Brehm, Linda A. Flagg, and Cynthia S. Sipp and husband Dennis; sister Patricia Murdock Pike; and 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and a Christmas great-granddaughter on the way.

A military service and small memorial will be held Monday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
