Raymond Parmentier

Raymond J. Parmentier, 83, Beaufort, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Mercy Hospital, Washington.

He was born Feb. 22, 1939, the son of the late Edward and Agnes Cecelia (Arand) Parmentier in Washington.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Mary Luechtefeld, Jan. 11, 1958, in Union. Margaret preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 2004.

Raymond proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955–1959. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Hudson, and the Knights of Columbus.

He worked for Sporlan Valve in Washington as a machinist for 45 years. He was an avid hunter and gunman, he loved to play golf and watch the hummingbirds.

He is preceded in death by parents Edward and Agnes; wife Margaret; brother Buddy Parmentier; and sisters Rose Mary Straatmann and Marcella Haney.

Raymond is survived by daughter Rene Marquart and husband Don of Washington; sons Brian Edward Parmentier and wife Karen, Kevin Ray Parmentier and wife Cindy all of Beaufort, and Jason Parmentier and wife Michelle of Chesterfield; daughter Julie Hidritch and husband Mark of Washington; and 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass was held Saturday, Aug. 6, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Hudson. Interment was at Holy Family Cemetery, with full military honors.
