Richard Eugene Smith. 79, Ellisville, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021, at his residence.
He was born July 25, 1941, to Richard Vector and Eunice (Newbound) Smith in St. Louis.
He was united in marriage to Audrey Maxine Pogue, June 6, 1970, in Hermann.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1960 and served on the USS TIRU (SS-416) and was discharged in 1964. He was a member of Carpenters Local No. 1839 for 56 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Eunice; wife, Audrey; son-in-law, Dustin Dorenkamp; sisters, Elizabeth Ann Treece, Nancy Nowack and Glenda Buhr; brother, Douglas Smith; and brothers-in-law, Jack, Jeff and Ranzo Nowack.
He is survived by daughter, Julie Dorenkamp of Ellisville; stepdaughter, Jennifer Horstmann and husband Don Tobias of San Diego, Calif.; stepson, John Pope and wife Jayne of Washington; sister, Mary Jane Jett of St. Louis; brother, Roger Smith of Albany, Ind.; two grandchildren, Dylan and Ryan Dorenkamp; and five step-grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment with full military honors were held Tuesday, April 27, at Owensville City Cemetery with Pastor Glenn Hollander officiating.
