Robert Nicholas Kossmeyer, 83, Owensville, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at his home surrounded by his children.
He was born Dec. 6, 1937, in St. Louis, to Richard and Margaret (Goedecker) Kossmeyer.
Robert was raised in St. Louis and soon after he graduated from high school, he joined the U.S. Army. After his service in the Army, he returned to St. Louis.
He was united in marriage to Mary Ann (Lossos) Kossmeyer, May 9, 1959.
Robert worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years before retiring. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and his farm, Happy Hollow, which he referred to as his “slice of Heaven on earth.”
He is survived by his children, Cathy Dale and husband Ken of Barnhart, Chris Kossmeyer and wife Karla of Lake St. Louis and Keith Kossmeyer of Owensville; eight grandchildren, Kristy Celeslie and husband Keith, Tiffany Dale, Samantha Fodor and husband Ryan, Cortni Kossmeyer, Joshua Kossmeyer and wife Alyssa, Nicholas Kossmeyer, Keith Kossmeyer and wife Erica and Nicole Towery and husband Wil; 10 great-grandchildren; Hannah, Hayden, Emma, Skyler, Sylus, Jack, Grace, Bennett, Blair and Colton; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann; his parents, Richard and Margaret; his brother, Richard Kossmeyer; and his daughter-in-law, Kim.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held (today) Wednesday, March 31, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cuba.
