Robert Lee “Butch” Mantle, 81, Springfield, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

He was born Nov. 3, 1940, to the late Dalton and Mary Belle Vaughan in Osage County.

He was united in marriage to Mary Gail Laughlin Aug. 26, 1961, in Jefferson City.

Robert settled in Springfield where he worked for Dayton Rubber Company for 25 years. In 1986 he joined the Teamsters and retired from Conco Quarries in 2006. Robert was a 50-year-member of Gate of the Temple Masonic Lodge, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and Sac River Cowboy Church. He had a strong faith in God.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was always willing to help anyone, living each day to the fullest.

He was preceded in death by parents, Dalton and Mary; son, Randy Mantle; in-laws, Alvin Edward and Charcley Cleo Laughlin; and siblings, Loretta Pope and Bernie Vaughan.

Robert is survived by wife, Mary; daughter, Kelly Mantle; grandchildren, Mark Alexander and wife Emma, Cody and Caleb Mantle and Christa and Logan Kendall; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Travis Alexander and Baer and Asher Kendall; brothers, Earl and Dru Vaughan; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Vaughan and Linda Gentges; brother-in-law, Edward and wife Ann Laughlin; daughter-in-law, Jana Lafferty and husband Russ; best friends, Jerald and Noreen Loveland; and numerous extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., Saturday, March 26, with a Masonic service following at 12 p.m. at J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home in Rogersville.

Memorial contributions suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
