Robert “Bob” Lee Mistler, 80, of Owensville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, at his residence.

He was born June 12, 1942, to Clarence and Mary (Borlisch) Mistler in Owensville.

He was united in marriage to Catherine Hendrickson, April 20, 1963, at First Baptist Church in Owensville.

Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church of Owensville. He grew up as a hard working young man, as he had to help his father and older brother, Bill, in the salvage business, selling scrap and other valuable parts that were available through the dismantling process of old cars. He went to work at Brown Shoe for a couple years before he started working at Chrysler in Fenton. While there, Bob hauled many co-workers to and from work with his family’s van, making many stories to share over the years. He retired from Chrysler in 1991. He then open up his own furniture store, the first one in Bourbon and then his main store in Union of which he ran for approximately 30 years.

He never met a stranger and was usually the center of attention and the life of the party. He loved his family very much and continued to help fulfill his commitment of taking care of them up until even the last month of his life when his health finally caused him to quit work.

He loved to hunt and fish and often telling many stories of all the fish he and his father and uncles caught through the years.

He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Mary; and siblings, Richard and Jim Mistler and Pat Ford.

He is survived by wife, Catherine of their home; children, Mark Mistler and wife Renetta of Harrison, Ark., and Robin Tyree and husband Dale of Owensville; siblings, Bill Mistler and wife Charlotte of Springfield, Kathy Lowe of Ellijay, Ga., and Jerry Mistler of Portland, Mo.; sister-in-law, Cindy Mistler of Rosebud; grandchildren, Brandon Mistler and wife Vicky of Russellville, Ark., Brent Mistler and wife Mandy of Harrison, Ark., Jaimie Blaue and husband DeWayne of Gerald, Derrick Tyree and wife Katelynn and Katie Wessel and husband Aaron all of Owensville; great-grandchildren, Luke, Levi, Bryli, Brooklyn, Emilia, Connor, Brayden, Elijah, Olivia and Taylee; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Wednesday (today), Jan. 4, from 4–8 p.m. at

Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville.
