Schutt named to state FFA leadership team as vice president

A Hermann High School senior will serve as a state vice president for the 2022-23 school year.

Malerie Schutt has served as Area 14 president and first vice president, and chapter president at Hermann High School where her advisors are Doug Ridder and Tracy Vedder. A Hermann she also served as second vice president and assistant vice president.

She competed in the conduct of chapter meetings and FFA knowledge leadership development events, and the floriculture, livestock evaluation and agricultural sales career development events.

Her SAE consists of raising a herd of registered purebred Hereford cattle, which she breeds to her family’s purebred Angus bull. She sells the Angus-Hereford crossbred calves locally.

She also owns a flock of laying hens and sells their eggs. In addition, Schutt maintains an 1,800-square-foot garden that produces fruits and vegetables for her to sell locally. In FFA, she has also attended the HYMAX Academy and HYPE Academy.

Schutt president of her senior class and treasurer of the student council. She was also a member of the varsity volleyball and basketball teams, National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. 

Away from school, Schutt is involved in the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Hermann and St. George Catholic Church.

Schutt plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in animal science. She hopes to earn her master’s degree to reach her goal of a career in animal biotechnology and reproduction. 

Her parents are Tim Schutt and Randi Jacquin of Hermann.
