Senior night wrestling sees four OHS pins

Wrestling for the final time in front of their home fans last Tuesday, Rod Barndollar’s Owensville Dutchmen and Dutchgirl wrestlers made the most of it.

Facing Central’s (Park Hills) Rebels, four of Owensville’s seven senior wrestlers scored wins by fall.

Starting the dual at 182 pounds, senior Cody Linders took on CPH’s Troy Harris.

Controlling the first period, Linders went on to pin his Rebel opponent in 2:22 winning his final match on a Owensville High School wrestling mat.

In spite of fellow seniors Michael Stockton (195), Tighe Bombach (132) and Boston Belk (145) being pinned in varsity action, the Martin brothers in freshman Michael and junior Dakota scored OHS’ other wins in their 57-18 dual loss to the Rebels.

Girls matches saw Dutchgirl Jazz Marquez (125) and Haven Sanders (142) both pin Savannah Scheldberg and Jasmine Alley giving OHS a 12-0 dual win.

In exhibition matches, senior Emma Reed pinned Alley in 3:13 for her first victory in a Dutchgirl wrestling uniform.

Belk also bounced back from his earlier loss with a win by fall over Garrett Rigdon.

District action for the girls is this weekend at Holt High School in Wentzville.
