Even though it is still winter according to the calendar and the current weather trend, that is not stopping Owensville High School (OHS) student-athletes from gearing up for their respective season openers over the coming week.
Entering his first season as Dutchmen head baseball coach, Steven Kemp will get to make his debut in the third-base coaches box at the friendly confines of OHS Field during the upcoming Four Rivers Conference (FRC) Baseball Tournament.
Games will begin Friday afternoon (weather and field conditions permitting) with the top half of the bracket scheduled to be played at Owensville and the bottom half to be played at Sullivan Bank Ballpark on the Sullivan High School campus.
Kemp’s Dutchmen will host St. Clair’s Bulldogs at approximately 6:30 p.m., on Friday following the other first-round match up between Pacific and New Haven at 4:30 p.m.
Championship and consolation semifinal action will take place on Saturday at Union High School beginning at 11 a.m.
Place games will take place once again at Sullivan and Owensville with locations for the consolation and championship sides of the bracket yet to be determined.
Kalyn Kemp’s Dutchgirl soccer team is scheduled to open their season Friday night on the road at the Westphalia Knights of Columbus soccer complex beginning at 5 p.m.
They will then open the home portion of their season on Monday, March 20 hosting Pacific’s Lady Indians at Dutchmen Field at 5 p.m.
Cullen VanLeer’s OHS golfers will kick off their season Monday at Cuba while Matt Candrl’s OHS Track and Field squads will run, jump and throw on Tuesday, March 21 at Montgomery County High School at 4 p.m.
