Workers at Certified Auto Repair, on W. Fifth Street, noticed a vehicle missing from their lot Thursday morning, Oct. 31.
Police Chief Jim Helton says that after reviewing security video, he felt confident he recognized the suspect and went to his home on Canaan Road.
Sure enough, the stolen vehicle was parked in the driveway where Daniel R. Mesger resides.
Mesger was arrested and charged with first degree tampering with a motor vehicle, a felony. He was taken to the Franklin County Adult Detention Facility.
He was arraigned, via video, in front of The Honorable David L. Hoven later that day. He entered a plea of not guilty.
Judge Hoven issued a $5,000 cash only bond.
