At 10 p.m. Monday, April 11, the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Department was dispatched to a water rescue at the slab on Danz Road. A female motorist, who was not identified, attempted to cross the slab, but rushing water pushed her vehicle downstream. She reportedly called 911 for help, but lost contact. Dispatch was able to ping the location and sent help to the phone’s location. Rescuers found the woman clinging onto the car in waist-deep water. A Gasconade County Sheriff’s deputy made contact with the woman and was able to throw her a rope bag, then pulled her safely to shore. She was unharmed and left in the care of friends. First responders remind motorists if there is water over a low water bridge, do not try to cross. Turn around, don’t drown.
