The Gasconade Timing Association’s poker run to benefit the Franklin County Honor Flight organization’s efforts to fly veterans to view their war memorials in Washington, D.C., was aided Saturday by an event at White Mule Winery which raised over $14,000. Roman Marquart, a motorcycle escort rider from Franklin County, donated the $230 he won in a 50/50 raffle along with a check for $500. Marquart made the donation in memory of a fellow escort rider, Noah Goodwin, who died in a pedestrian accident along I-44. John Colombo, director of the Missouri M1 for Vets Project of the VFW Post No. 6133 and Owensville Gun Club, presented a $5,000 donation to the GTA’s Honor Flight event. Due to the pandemic, the M1s for Vets non-profit has been unable to take veterans on trips to out-of-state shooting matches and had funds available to support fellow veterans, a plan approved by the local M1s for Vets Project board of directors.
