An 18-year-old from Gerald ejected in a Friday morning roll-over crash on Highway 28 was released from the hospital the same day, according to a family member’s social media post.
Daniel A. Kloeppel, 18, was reportedly ejected from a 2002 Ford Fusion in the incident reported at 9:35 a.m. Oct. 15. The driver, identified only as a female juvenile, age 17, in the Missouri State Highway Patrol report by Cpl. Coby G. Holzschuh, traveled off the left side of the road heading west on Highway 28. The car overturned, ejecting Kloeppel.
Both Kloeppel and the driver, of Owensville, were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington for treatment of serious and minor respectively, according to Holzschuh’s report.
The MSHP no longer identifies juveniles under the age of 18 by name in their crash reports through a policy change.
The driver was wearing a seat belt but Kloeppel was not, according to the report.
The two were traveling west approximately one mile from the junction of 28 and U.S. 50 when the crash took place as they came out of the Soap Creek bottoms.
