Playing together for two years at Owensville High School, four former Owensville Dutchmen football players will now get to play together for at least one more year at Westminster College (WC) in Fulton, Mo.

Mostly known for leading the Dutchmen to a 12-1 season during the fall of 2016 were the quartet of Wyatt Ellis, Robert Weirich, Logan Decker and Dustin Faragher.

After being sidelined with a hand injury during his freshman season, Ellis saw action in all 10 games this past fall for the gridiron Blue Jays in Fulton.

Falling 49-35 on the road at Nebraska Weslyan, Ellis delievered what would turn out to be the best game of his sophomore season from a statistical perspective.

Completing 21 of 32 passes, Ellis threw for a season and career high 297 yards to go along with four touchdowns and only one interception.

Ellis’ first career victory as a college quarterback came the third weekend of September on the road at Iowa Wesleyan where they came out on top by a final score of 35-7.

In that game up in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Ellis completed 20 of 34 passes good for 172 yards and a touchdown through the air. Equally as impressive on the ground, Ellis ran for 68 yards on 14 carries and two more scores.

His first victory on WC’s home turf came on Oct. 12 in a 33-30 come-from-behind victory over MacMurray.

Going 19-29 through the air, Ellis passed for 157 yards and a touchdown.

On the ground, he eclipsed the century mark with 125 yards rushing on 13 carries and three touchdowns.

Playing only in their season opener, Weirich amassed four solo tackles and an assist for the Blue Jay defense.

His best season so far came as a freshman when he recorded 19 tackles (10 solo), two tackles-for-loss and a sack in 10 games during the 2017-18 season.

As a sophomore in 2018-19, Weirich saw action in four games racking up 18 total tackles (12 solo), a fumble recovery and a blocked kick.

Decker’s two seasons at WC have been productive recording 51 total tackles (40 solo) in 17 games.

In addition to the 51 tackles, Decker has racked up seven sacks, 10 tackles-for-loss and a pair of interceptions.

One of those interceptions was a 20-yard return for a touchdown against Iowa Wesleyan last fall.

Decker’s two best games last fall came at Nebraska Wesleyan where he had 2.5 sacks and 1.5 tackles-for-loss.

Also in the aforementioned 33-30 comeback win over MacMurray, Decker racked up eight total tackles (seven solo) establishing a new career high.

In a 28-27 loss to St. Scholastica back on Sept. 28, Decker tallied seven total tackles (six solo) in addition to a tackle for loss.
