The “Wizard” visits the Capitol

Collected from Missouri legislators from their final week of the spring 2021 General Assembly which concluded Friday evening.
On May 12, St. Louis Cardinals baseball great Ozzie Smith visited the Capitol. State Rep. Bruce Sassmann (right) had the chance to visit with the “Wizard” in the House’s side gallery.
State Sen. Justin Brown, R-Rolla, had this response to approval this past week of Senate Bill 153 (use tax).
“Your reaction to passage of Senate Bill 153 will likely depend on which side of the retail counter you stand,” wrote Brown in his weekly column. “Brick-and-mortar business owners will applaud this legislation that ends a competitive advantage internet-based sellers have enjoyed over local brick-and-mortar merchants in Missouri. Online vendors will now need to collect sales tax on merchandise sold to Missouri customers.”
