Three OHS coaches submit resignations

Following Monday’s April meeting of the Gasconade County R-2 Board of Education, three Owensville High School coaches submitted resignations that were unanimously approved by a 7-0 vote.

Nathan Cabot, who is also the head coach of the Owensville Dutchmen football team, turned in his resignation as head coach of the OHS Golf Team.

“I wanted some more free time in the spring,” Cabot said.

At the same time of Cabot’s resignation, that coaching vacancy was filled by former Pacific Indian golfer Cullen VanLeer.

He was also named the next head coach of the Owensville Dutchmen basketball team. See the story located elsewhere on this page for more details.

Jordan Palmer will be looking for a new assistant coach on the sidelines come next spring’s Dutchgirl soccer season.

Citing personal and family reasons, Amanda Elisaia submitted her resignation that was unanimously approved by the board.

“Amanda was a great addition to our team,” Palmer said. “She brought extensive defensive and goalkeeping knowledge to the table. She set a great standard as an assistant coach and will be missed.”

Also resigning coaching positions during Monday’s board meeting was OHS assistant track and freshman girl’s basketball coach Jocelyn Keller.

In addition to her coaching duties, Keller also resigned her high school English teaching responsibilities as well.

In addition to VanLeer’s hire as head boy’s basketball and golf, six more coaching vacancies were filled Monday night.

Scott Lewis will be an assistant football coach in addition to the freshman boy’s basketball coach replacing Dean Pohlmann and Matt Kramme respectively.

Zach Bollmann will also be an assistant coach in football and wrestling. He will replace Shane Hunt who will be a softball assistant coach along with Stephen Turner in wrestling who left the district.

Taylor Payne will also add freshman volleyball coach to her list of coaching duties in the fall.
