Getting to state via a top-four finish at districts over the weekend, wrestlers throughout the state of Missouri will be looking to finish in the top six of their respective weight classes during the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Wrestling Championships starting today (Wednesday) in Columbia at Mizzou Arena.

Led by Sullivan’s 15 state qualifiers combining boys and girls, the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) will have a total of 48 state qualifiers between Class 1 Girls, Class 2 Boys and Class 3 Boys.

St. Clair has 13 qualifiers between boys and girls followed by  six qualifiers apiece from Pacific and St. James.

Owensville’s quartet of Bailee Dare, Kelby Schoenfeld, Gabe Soest and Hayden Shoemaker rounds out the contingency of FRC state-qualifying wrestlers.

Wrestling in Columbia will begin today (Wednesday) at 8:15 a.m., with the Class 1 Boys and continue throughout the morning.

Action for Class 1 Girls including Owensville, Sullivan, St. Clair, Union and Pacific will begin with their grand march at 1 p.m., with first-round matches starting at 1:15 p.m.

Class 2 Boys wrestlers from Owensville, St. Clair, Sullivan and St. James will begin their tournament that evening with the grand march at 5:45 p.m., with first-round matches at 6 p.m.
