Owensville Middle and High School basketball fans looking for tournaments throughout the remainder of this week will have plenty to choose from.

That is because there are tournaments ranging in involvement from fourth-grade girls all the way to Owensville varsity Dutchgirl basketball taking place.

Throughout the Gasconade County R-2 complex this coming Saturday, there will be fourth, fifth and sixth-grade girls basketball tournaments taking place at Owensville High School and Owensville Elementary School.

Fourth-grade girls tournament action will take place in the OHS small gym with games beginning at 8 a.m., and lasting all the way until around 7 p.m., that night.

Over at OES, fifth-grade girls tournament action will also fill their gym starting at 8 a.m., and continuing all the way until approximately 7 p.m.

Back at OHS, the sixth-grade girls basketball tournament hosted by the Dutchmen/Dutchgirl booster club will also begin at 8 a.m., and conclude at around 7 p.m.

Staying with girls basketball, Ryan Flanagan’s varsity Dutchgirl basketball team will be competing the remainder of this week up in northern Gasconade County at the Hermann Invitational Girls Basketball Tournament.

Winning their opening-round match up Monday night 67-33 over New Haven, the Dutchgirls will face St. Clair’s Lady Bulldogs tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m., in the championship semifinals over at Hermann High School.

OMS Dutchmen basketball teams coached by Shane Hunt and Taylor Payne will wrap up their seasons this week in tournament action at Sullivan and St. Clair respectively.

Hunt’s seventh-graders opened action at Sullivan last night (Tuesday) against Union while Payne’s eighth-grade Dutchmen defeated Hermann Monday night in their first-round game at St. Clair.

Also going on this week is the annual Owensville Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament over at the OES gym.

With only six teams competing, they have been divided into two pools of three.

Pool A consists of Salem, Sullivan and Pacific while Pool B is made up of Owensville, Union and Belle.

Opening night games Monday saw Pacific defeat Salem 42-33 while the host Dutchmen defeated Belle 53-32.

Last night’s (Tuesday) action pitted Salem against Sullivan while Owensville took on Union.

Tonight’s (Wednesday) games wrapping up pool play have Sullivan facing Pacific and Union taking on Belle.

Hardware games Thursday will begin at 4:30 p.m., at OES with the consolation title game.
