Before and after indulging in turkey and all the fixings, area high school basketball fans can get their hoops craving fulfilled over at St. Francis Borgia Regional High School and the 69th Annual Turkey Tournament.

Starting last night (Tuesday) Cullen VanLeer’s Owensville Dutchmen had the daunting task of facing the top-seeded Fort Zumwalt North Panthers.

Coached by Michael Uffmann, the Panther head coach has local ties in that he is the nephew of former Dutchmen basketball player Todd Uffmann.

Regardless of the results of Owensville’s first two games this week, they will compete on Friday and Saturday over in Washington against Union, Washington, University City, Gateway Elite, Pacific and the host Borgia Knights.

To all of the readers of this weekly column, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving with your family and friends.
