Update release on information related to the double shooting from February 9, 2022 on Flottmann Road:

Recap of information:  At about 4:15pm, on February 9, 2022, Franklin County 911 received a report of a double shooting.  The female caller advised she had been shot twice and the suspect had shot himself.

Emergency medical services responded into the scene to assess life threats to anybody involved in the incident.  As a result of their evaluation, two people were flown to a hospital in the St. Louis area and treated for their gunshot wounds.  The victim in this shooting was injured in two places, but survived her wounds. 

Update:  The suspect shooter is the victim’s husband identified as 65 year old Randall L. Kagy, from the Gerald, MO, area.

On February, 15, 2022, Honorable Stanley Williams signed an arrest warrant for Mr. Kagy charging him with the Class A Felony of 1st Degree Domestic Assault and Armed Criminal Action (F).  These charges for Mr. Kagy carry a bond of $500,000.00.

Mr. Kagy remains under a doctor’s care so he has not been booked at the Franklin County Detention Center, but is in the custody of Franklin County sheriffs’ deputies.

At about 4:15pm, on February 9, 2022, Franklin Co Missouri 911/Communications received a report of a double shooting. The female caller advised she had been shot twice and the suspect had shot himself.
 
Emergency medical services responded into the scene to assess life threats to anybody involved in the incident. As a result of their evaluation, two people were flown to a hospital in the St. Louis area and treated for their gunshot wounds. At the timing of this release, the female victim is expected to make a full recovery from her wounds. The condition of the male suspect is unknown.
 
Information given to investigators revealed only two people was involved in this incident; they are related by marriage. Franklin County investigators have not learned any information indicating more victims or suspects, but evidence processing is ongoing.

Sirens blared across town around 4:30 p.m. this afternoon in response to what is now known to have been a shooting on Flottmann Road, outside the city limits. 

It has been confirmed two gunshot victims were separately airlifted to Mercy St. Louis from the heli-pad in Legion Park. 

Gerald Police, Gerald EMS and the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Department all responded to the call followed quickly by Franklin County Sheriff deputies. 

 A press release filed by the GRFD noted, “The assailant was detained by PD before arrival.” 

The Franklin County Sheriff’s department issued its own release warning of an increased police presence in the 1500 block of Flottmann Road. They announced they were on the scene investigating a double shooting. 

Major T. J. Wild said indications were that “everybody involved in this incident is accounted for and there is no additional threat to neighbors or citizens.” 

The release noted the “effort at this scene will most likely continue into the late hours.”

The Sheriff’s office is expected to release more information tomorrow (Thursday) morning.
