Two injured in accident near Beaufort

Christopher R. Helling, 26, of Owensville suffered serious injuries in an accident that occurred Wednesday, March 10.

Cpl. R. A. LeClaire with Troop C of the Missouri Highway Patrol provided details of the accident in a filed report.

Helling was traveling eastbound on U. S. Highway 50 just east of Greenstreet when the accident occurred at 6:25 a.m. The 2009 Dodge Charger he was driving crossed the center line and struck an oncoming 2014 Ford passenger bus. 

Tamara L. Godefroid, 61, of St. Clair was driving the bus which was struck on the left front corner by the left side of the Charger. The Charger rotated and overturned after the collision. The bus traveled off the south side of the roadway, coming to rest in a ditch facing north. 

Godefroid suffered minor injuries in the crash. Both drivers were transported to Mercy Washington by Gerald ambulance. 

The bus had extensive damage, the Charger was totalled.
