Gerald City Clerk Jane Hungler reported that two men had filed to run for aldermen in the April Municipal election.
Filing opened yesterday, Dec. 17 and will close Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 5 p.m.
Stephen M. Grgurich, 214 Springfield Ave., filed his intention to run for a seat in Ward 1 that will become vacant in April. That seat is currently being held by Ruth Haase who has indicated she will not seek reelection.
Ed Adams, 642 Scrivner, also filed Tuesday. Adams currently serves as an alderman in Ward 2. His current term is up in April and he plans to seek reelection from his ward.
Ward 1 Alderman Angela Koepke, Ward 2 Alderman Kent Richardson and Mayor Hillary Ward all have another year left on their terms.
Hungler says that in addition to voting on an alderman in each ward, Gerald voters will also have two ballot issues to decide.
The first is whether or not to continue the one-cent sales tax increase for streets that is due to expire in 2020. The second is an increase in business licenses.
Aldermen approved both issues for the ballot on Thursday, Dec. 12.
