Rumors began circulating Thursday afternoon that a body had been discovered in the vicinity of County Line Road, just west of Gerald.
Friday morning Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton confirmed those rumors.
A call was placed to his office at 2:12 p.m. that a body had been discovered in a field in the 700 block of DaniMac Lane, off of County Line Road.
When deputies arrived on scene they found a vehicle apparently stuck in a field. There was an unidentified body laying near the vehicle.
Pelton says that due to decomposition, the body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office to assist in the identification.
Cause of death has not been determined.
The investigation is ongoing and Pelton assures that information will be released as it becomes available.
