Vernon Leo Skornia, 87, passed away peacefully March 7, 2022, at Ballwin Ridge Health and Rehabilitation skilled nursing facility in Wildwood, in the care of hospice.
He was born Sept. 10, 1934, the beloved younger son of Charles “Henry” Skornia and Irene Christina Cunio Skornia in Tea.
Vernon’s early life was spent farming with his parents in Tea. He attended Owensville High School from 1948–1952. He was a member of Glee Club and graduated valedictorian. After the farm was sold in 1977, he lived many years in Gerald, and then finally in St Louis County.
He is preceded in death by parents Henry and Irene; sister Mable Sue; and brother Wilbur.
He is survived by nephews Mark and wife Jane of Eureka, and Paul and wife Gloria of Wildwood as well as three great nieces, two great nephews, and one great-great nephew.
A memorial service and committal will take place at a later date.
Burial will be at Old Argo Cemetery, Bourbon.
