The Gerald-Rosebud Fire Department was called to the scene of a commercial first alarm structure fire at the MFA plant Friday, Feb. 21. The plant is located on West Springfield Road in Gerald, just off U. S. Highway 50. Initial reports indicated smoke was coming from the building.

Fire crews monitored the building with a thermal imaging camera until a key holder arrived on the premises. After making entry, crews located a blown fuse between two transformers. Further investigation found a blown electrical panel that had been charred black.

Damage had not extended to the structure itself. Crews checked the interior of the building and provided an all clear.

Ameren personnel were called to the scene.

Beaufort-Leslie Fire Department provided additional personnel and equipment to the scene. Owensville Fire Department moved to the GRFD station 2 to provide coverage for the district.
