Volleyball Dutchgirls take two of three matches from Hermann

Taking both the freshman and junior varsity matches last Tuesday night against Hermann’s Lady Bearcats, Jamie Ridenhour’s Owensville Dutchgirl volleyball team looked to complete the sweep with a win in varsity action against the Gasconade County rivals to the north.

Falling 25-19 in the first set, Owensville saw Hermann take the next two sets and the match by scores of 25-19, 25-10 and 25-15.

Mya Vandegriffe led the orange and black with seven kills while Sydney Schulte led Hermann with 13 kills.

Ashlyn Hughes also reached double digits in kills for the Lady Bearcats with 11 kills.

Reece Hampton paced the Dutchgirls with two aces while Kealie Lane and Jana Limberopoulos each had a pair of aces to lead Hermann.

Jillian Frederick and Hughes led Hermann with three blocks apiece while Cameron Nowack and Vandegriffe each had one block for the Dutchgirls.

Lane led Hermann with 15 digs followed closely by Kennedie Witthaus with 14 digs.

Madi Lewis paced the Dutchgirls with seven digs to go along with five each from Lilly Sample, Jenna Hoffman and Cameron Nowack.

Jaelee Kahler showed the way for Hermann with 32 assists while Owensville was led with seven assists from Hampton.

Facing Sullivan for senior night last night (Tuesday), Ridenhour’s volleyball Dutchgirls will end their regular season tomorrow (Thursday) night hosting New Haven’s Lady Shamrocks with a 4:30 p.m., first serve for freshman action.
