Snowfall and a rapidly falling temperature had most people indoors Thursday afternoon with the exception of U.S. Postal Service employees delivering the mail. The region experienced sub-freezing weather throughout the Christmas holiday weekend with a minus-5 reading reported in several county locations. The cold weather was made even more fierce by wind gusting from 30 to 40 miles per hour Thursday afternoon and night into Friday.
