Walter Benjamin Wehrend, 85, of Owensville, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021, at St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City.
He was born May 26, 1936, to H.F. William and Lorena (Fiegler) Wehrend in Drake.
He was united in marriage to Jennifer Wehrend.
Walter was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville and the American Legion Post 587. He graduated from Owensville High School in 1954 joining the Missouri Air National Guard his senior year. He was a S/Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1962 and was on active duty during the Berlin Crisis in France.
He was preceded in death by parents, H.F. William and Lorena; and siblings, Helen Turner, William Wehrend and a brother in infancy.
He is survived by son,Terry Wehrend and wife Jennifer of Columbia.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 22 from 10-11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church.
Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Roth officiating. His cremains will be interred at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery at Charlotte with full military honors.
