Warrants issued in assault case

Warrants have been issued for two people in connection with an assault resulting in a gunshot wound Feb. 14, in the 700 block of S. Bernhardt Ave.

Police Chief Jim Helton says warrants have been issued against Crystal D. Gehm, 44, and Paul  J. Dekorsey, 42, both live south of Gerald.

They have each been charged with first degree assault or attempt with serious physical injury or special victim and second degree assault. The first charge is a class A felony.

An eyewitness at the scene reported the two came onto private property and began beating the victim. A handgun in the victim’s pocket discharged during the assault, shooting the victim in his hand.

Warrants for the two individuals were issued Feb. 25. Helton says because the couple lives outside of town, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has been charged with serving them. To date, they have been unable to locate them. Deputies have even left voice messages on their phones asking them to turn themselves in.

Anyone with knowledge as to the whereabouts of the two are urged to call the Gerald Police Department or the FCSO.
