Owensville Public Works employees began work Monday on a water line replacement project which will cover an estimated 2,200 linear feet across six blocks stretching from Highway 28 and Fifth Street, a block of West Jefferson from Fifth to Sixth and four blocks south along Sixth to Jackson. New fire hydrants will be installed connecting to 6-inch PVC pipe which replaces an aging cast iron line that has required frequent patches along the length of the current line. City workers are pictured Tuesday afternoon backfilling a section of new pipe installed on Fifth Street. The affected streets are expected to be included in a 2023 resurfacing project.
