Snow days on Feb. 24-25 have pushed the Gasconade County R-2 School District’s last day back through May 25 according to Superintendent Dr. Jeri Kay Hardy.
“We have one more possible make-up day on May 26,” Hardy said. “We would have been out on the 19th.”
May 20 was the first scheduled school make-up day from the Dec. 17 incident where the district was closed due to a shooting threat. That incident is still under investigation.
The board of education voted during the November 2021 meeting to use two of the four available AMI days to release students from school on Nov. 22-23 before Thanksgiving. Their reasoning was to help combat the spread of COVID-19 and clean the schools.
The four built-in forgiveness days were used for the Feb. 2-4 inclement weather.
The district used three traditional snow days Feb. 2-4 and a fourth on Jan. 6. They were out of school again on Feb. 17-18 due to snow.
