Yesterdays Cruisers plan benefit for Sept. 15

Posted

Two-year-old Truett Palmer will be the beneficiary of a fund raising cruise-in to be held by Yesterday’s Cruisers Car Club, Sunday, Sept. 15. All money raised by events held throughout the day in Legion Park will go directly to Truett and his family.

Truett was born with a critical, congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus with VSD. He also has a rare genetic disorder called Mandibulofacial Dysostosis with Microcephaly that has affected his intestines, airway, ear structure and muscular structure. It has also caused a bleeding disorder, weakened immune system, and many other problems. He deals with developmental delays and undergoes extensive therapies. He has had eleven surgeries to date, including open heart surgery at two-weeks-old.

Truett has spent the majority of his two years of life in and out of the hospital for various hospital stays and procedures. He depends on his G-button for nutrition and medicines. He also wears hearing devices due to his hearing impairment.

Because of Truett’s condition, including an enlarged heart, he has been accepted as a patient at Boston Children’s Hospital where he will undergo his second open heart surgery later this year. Despite all the hardships Truett has had to endure, his personality shines.

Yesterdays Cruisers has been working hard to raise money to help with medical and travel expenses for the Truett and his parents, Brett and Danielle Palmer.

Their efforts will culminate in the benefit cruise in and associated events  that will last from 10 a.m to 3 p.m.

A winner’s choice raffle will let someone choose between a Golden Boy lever action .22 caliber rifle,  processing of half a hog from Swiss Meat Co. or $100 cash.

Classic vehicles are welcome to just cruise on in, no entry fee is charged.

The Ozark Spirit Cloggers will perform at 12:30 p.m.

There will also be a silent auction, 50/50 drawings, music, raffles and food.

Yesterdays Cruisers only holds one benefit now held in September. Each year they ask they community to help them support someone who is truly in need of their help. And each the community responds in a very generous way. The club is confident that although their membership is declining, the public’s help will remain strong.
