Jacob T. Lantrip, 26, of Gerald suffered minor injuries in a motorcycle crash Saturday, May 7. His passenger, Mallory C. Cox, 24, of Union was seriously injured in the 6:38 p.m. crash.

Tpr. B. Bridges with Troop C of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) included details of the accident in a report he filed.

The two were traveling northbound on Happy Sac Road south of Robin Lane on a 2005 Harley Davidson. Lantrip was driving, but allowed Cox to steer the motorcycle. The Harley overturned onto its right side and began to skid. It then crossed the center of the road and overturned onto its left side, ejecting both the driver and the passenger. Neither were using safety devices.

Cox was transported to Mercy Washington by St. Clair ambulance.

Lantrip was taken to the same hospital by the MSHP. At 7 p.m. he was charged with driving while intoxicated causing serious physical injury and excessive blood alcohol count.

Lantrip is also facing charges from the Owensville police department of no valid license and from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department for two counts of no insurance, displaying the plates of another and an expired drivers license.

He was later transported to the Franklin County Adult Detention Facility for a 24-hour hold.

The motorcycle had minor damage and was towed by a private party.
