Gerald-Rosebud Fire District (GRFD) received a call Saturday night for a fire on Old Highway 50 at Route C. In a gesture of mutual aid, Chief Terry Feth with the Beaufort-Leslie Fire Department was the first to arrive on scene and took control.

GRFD’s Chief Warren Weiss told the Republican Feth reported  a structure was fully involved and collapsing on his arrival. Weiss said when he arrived the area was “a ball of fire” visible from Gerald.
The structure, a small, single-story home was uninhabited. There was no power connected to the house.

A vehicle, later discovered to be stolen, was also burned. Around three acres of brush was also involved in the blaze.

The fire is under investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office as well as Capt. Anthony Wehmeyer with the GRFD.
