The Gasconade County Clerk’s office has begun the Voter Identification and Canvass process as required every two years as per RSMo 115.179 and in accordance with RSMo 115.163.3.
In an effort to get the voter registration records as accurate as possible, we will be mailing a new voter identification card sometime during the month of December, to all active voters in Gasconade County. Once voters have received this new card and agree it contains accurate name and address information, there is nothing else for the voter to do except keep the new card.
These cards will be mailed to the most recent address we have on file for the voter and are marked NON FORWARDABLE, meaning if the post office cannot deliver as addressed, it is to be returned to us. We will then make a second attempt, if the post office has given us a new address, by sending a prepaid, pre-addressed card, in hopes of finding the voter and giving them a chance to confirm this new address is correct by signing and sending it back to us.
If we are not given a new address by the post office, or by the voter, the voter remains registered to vote in Gasconade County for up to two years — again as required by MO law — but is considered inactive, because the address is obviously not correct.
Voters who still live in Gasconade County and show up at the polls on election day are able to change their address then and be sent to the correct polling place. Voters who have moved out of Gasconade County will need to register in their new county. As always, with any questions, contact the Gasconade County Clerk’s office at 573-486-5427 or at gasconade@sos.mo.gov.
