ADAM SULLENTRUP and his wife, Michelle, walk into the Hermann High School Auditorium to a standing ovation Saturday morning. Sullentrup has undergone extensive rehabilitation since being shot in the head in March 2023. He underwent surgery in February to replace the piece of his skull which was removed during initial life-saving procedures. Sullentrup’s family thanked emergency responders to his shooting incident with quilts they created.

A memorial vigil at the Hermann Riverfront Park on Tuesday evening was held honoring the life of Hermann police Det. Sgt. Mason Griffith, who was killed one year ago Tuesday in the line of duty, and in tribute to patrolman Adam Sullentrup who survived a gunshot wound to the head. Sullentrup continues his recovery at home with family in Washington after treatment at a Colorado facility specializing in rehabilitation from traumatic brain injury.

Glen Englert removes a built-in shelving unit from the Gasconade County Courthouse Commission’s meeting room with help from B&M Lawn Care staff on Thursday. The unit, believed to have been constructed in the 1930s, was moved to a second-floor office space used by juvenile court staff. Removal was necessary to make room for election equipment which is being relocated from its storage site adjacent to the Commissioner’s room to make room for an elevator which is being installed. County Clerk Lesa Lietzow said she regrets losing the storage space but did not want to see plans for an elevator scrapped after waiting 30 years for one to be installed. Her predecessor, the late Roger Prior, had first made the pitch for an elevator when he served as clerk.
