Continuing our look back at what was the recently completed 2025-26 school year of high school sports in Gasconade County, we now look at the winter sports of boys basketball, girls basketball and wrestling.
Coached by the Howard brothers of Dustin and Brandon, Owensville’s Dutchmen and Dutchgirl wrestlers had multiple tournament champions in the regular season along with Four Rivers Conference (FRC).
Dutchgirl grappler Brianna Bodine set a program record for most wins by a freshman finishing with a record of 39-13 which included tournament titles at Owensville and Fort Zumwalt South.
Bodine also took second place at 100 pounds in the FRC Tournament and the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 1, District 2 Tournament held at Mexico High School.
Other regular-season tournament action saw Bodine place second at the Lady Rebel Invitational hosted by Central (Park Hills) High School.
Earning one win during the 2026 MSHSAA Wrestling Championships inside Columbia’s Mizzou Arena, Bodine is well on pace to become OHS’ latest 100-win wrestler on the girl’s side.
Joining Bodine at state was junior Rylee Dare.
Finishing 47-11 on the season, Dare won tournament titles at Fort Zumwalt South and the Thundering Herd Girls Tournament in Buffalo along with claiming an individual FRC championship at 145 pounds.
Placing third at districts, Dare made it to the third round of wrestle backs at state before ending up one win shy of the top six and a spot on the medal stand.
Ending her senior season with a record of 28-12, Manning won a FRC title at 190 pounds before seeing her season one win shy of state in the fourth round of wrestle backs at districts.
Fellow Dutchgirls also earning All-FRC honors with second-place finishes in their respective weight classes included Anieya Bergesch (115), Violet Lavalle (130) and Brooke Tainter (170).
For Dustin’s Dutchmen, four OHS grapplers earn All-FRC nods which included three FRC champions in Bo Buddemeyer (138), Steven Buddemeyer (145) and Liam Rasmussen (150).
Will Coppedge also earned All-FRC honors placing second at 175 pounds.
Steven Buddemeyer showed the way for the orange and black finishing 52-6 while claiming another state medal placing fifth at 138 pounds.
In addition to his FRC title, Steven also won regular-season tournament titles at Owensville and Fort Zumwalt South to go along with second-place finishes at the Thundering Herd Tournament and the MSHSAA Class 2, District 3 Tournament both held in Buffalo.
Joining his brother as a state qualifier, Bo finished his freshman season at 43-10 after a loss in the third round of wrestle backs in Columbia.
Winning a FRC title at 138 pounds, Bo also placed second at Owensville and third in districts both at 144 pounds.
In his first year as Dutchgirl head basketball coach, Matt Kramme had a young team that improved with each game throughout the season.
With only one senior graduating in Cylee Reed, Kramme will return an experienced squad for next winter.
Kramme scored road wins throughout the season at Chamois in addition to the consolation championship game at the Peoples Bank Holiday Classic (PBHC) in Sullivan against Salem and the seventh-place game of the Hermann Invitational Girls Basketball Tournament over Gateway Legacy Christian Academy.
February saw Kramme get his first win on the home court at OHS in FRC play over New Haven and Pacific helping the Dutchgirl to a 5-21 season.
Cullen VanLeer’s Dutchmen ended their season at 11-14 with wins in FRC action over New Haven, Sullivan and St. Clair.
They also had big road wins over Fatima and Russellville who both finished with winning records.
A recap of Hermann Bearcat and Lady Bearcat basketball will be in next week’s Republican.
