Kara Meyer, deputy clerk for Owensville, tosses a vacuum sweeper into a dumpster Saturday during the spring bulk trash collections offered free to city resident. A large turnout was reported as residents off-loaded enough trash to fill six 30-yard dumpsters and a trailer-load of metal separated out for recycling to help offset the cost to offer the service. The city spends between $1,700 and $2,000 for the program after subtracting money received for recyclable materials. City employees helping with the effort are paid their regular wages for the hours they worked.
