Area pedal pullers punch tickets to Sedalia

Trophies, ribbons and a chance to compete during the State Pedal Pull at the Missouri State Fair on Sunday, Aug. 20 in Sedalia.

That is what was on the line back on Friday, July 28 during the children’s pedal tractor pull as part of the 76th Gasconade County Fair.

While the top three overall in each age division won trophies, the top three boys and top three girls in each age group qualified to compete in Sedalia on the last day of the 2023 Missouri State Fair.

Children ranging in age from 3-10 competed with the top three-year-olds earning ribbons and the other age groups earning trophies.

Making up the top three in the three-year-old division were Tucker Grellner, Ryan Shockley and Bo Grellner.

Beginning with the four-year-olds, the top three overall received trophies in addition to the top three boys and girls qualifying for the state pull.

Taking the top three spots overall as four-year-olds were Levi May, Chase Heberle and Olivia Mangrum.

Wesley Melton, Mattie Baxter and Harper Smart also qualified for state.

Making up the overall top three among five-year-olds were Brayden Blaue, River Evans and Brett Lebish.

Heston Kreter, Paisley Jahnsen and Evelynn Purvis also pulled their way into the state fair.

Boys swept the top three overall spots among six-year-olds Drake Schlottach, JJ Bohl and Lucas Hart.

Making up the top three girls were Clara Baxter, Karoline Reams and Charlotte Okenfuss.

Winning trophies among seven-year-olds were Kolton Koelling, Eben Kottwitz and Faye Geisler.

Claiming the other state pedal pull qualifying spots for seven-year-olds were Hudson Worley and Alaina Stockton.

Earning trophies in the eight-year-old division were Kendrix Eldringhoff, Harley Geisler and Brooklyn Blaue.

Additional eight-year-old state qualifiers included Jacob Licklider, Cordale Purvis and Eliana Loden.

Needing three pulls to decide the top three among nine-year-olds, Bryli Blaue emerged in first place followed by Jase Gruenke and Daniel Marquart.

Also advancing to state were James Shoemaker and Paizli Echols.

Competing in their final fair pull as 10-year-olds, Eli Wax, Korbyn Kottwitz and Kennedy Reams made up the overall top three.

Joining them in Sedalia will be Ella Homeyer, Garrett Baxter and Everly Jackson.
