Area pullers qualify state following Rosebud pull

ROSEBUD — While there were a few wet spectators during the final event of the 2026 Gasconade County Threshers Association (GCTA) Steam Engine and Threshing Show held Sunday, July 19 at Rosebud Community Park, numerous pedal pullers ranging in age from four to 12 clinched their respective spots at the Missouri State Pedal Pull Championships during the last day of the upcoming Missouri State Fair on Sunday, Aug. 23 in Sedalia.

Making up the overall top three in the four-year-old division were boys Kanton Korman, Briar Hecht and Ben Berkemeyer.

There were no four-year-old girls competing in Rosebud.

Three rounds of pulling were needed to decide the top three in the five-year-old division.

Emery Hecht, Sutton Korman and Tucker Kurrelmeyer all had a pair of full pulls forcing a third round of pulls to break the tie.

Kurrelmeyer posted a third full pull to top the five-year-old division while Korman was second with a third pull of 42.6 feet and Hecht was third with a third pull of 19.6 feet.

Maelynne Hoock and Sadie Leicht also placed second and third respectively among five-year-old girls to qualify for the state pedal pull in Sedalia.

Sadie’s brother Jase Leicht won the six-year-old division with a pull of 32.11 feet while Eli Gerlemann (20) and Jarret Hahne (19.5) made it a clean sweep for the boys of the top-three spots in the six-year-old division.

Ila Shoemaker and Parker Teboe also pulled their way to Sedalia as the top two girls among six-year-olds.

Three boys also swept the overall top three spots in the seven-year-old division in Chase Heberle (37.4), Weston Schlottach (32) and Axel Hoock (31.9).

Gracie Smith (29) and Rose Notheisen (13.6) were the top two girls in the seven-year-old division advancing them to Sedalia.

Boys also took the top three spots among eight-year-olds led by Kaden Koelling with a pull of 41.7 feet followed in second place by Brayden Blaue with a mark of 38.8 feet and Nash Korman recording a pull of 37.2 feet.

Maggie Branson was the lone girl pulling in the eight-year-old division and qualified for state with her pull of 24.1 feet.

Drake Schlottach added another first-place trophy to his collection registering the lone full pull in the nine-year-old division. He was followed in second place by Lucas Hart (38.4) and Gus Shoemaker (31.8).

Among 10-year-olds, Hunter Sachs added to his recent win at New Haven with a first-place pull of 48.6 feet in Rosebud.

He was followed in the top three by Kolton Koelling (48.4) and Lane Johnson (42.10).

Kinsley Teboe (25.6) and Tess Meyer (11.5) also qualified for Sedalia among 10-year-old girls.

Another round of pulls was also needed to decide the 11-year-old division in Rosebud.

Earning full pulls on their first pass down the track were Jacob Licklider, Colton Sachs and Brooklyn Blaue.

Sachs came out on top with a second pull of 25.3 followed closely by Blaue (20.8) and Licklider (20.7).

Skyler Korman (21.2) and Kyndall Eiler (16.6) also advanced to Sedalia being among the top three girls in the 11-year-old division.

Closing out the pull in the 12-year-old division, Bryli Blaue was the lone puller to post a full pull followed by Jeb Turner (32.2) and Max Branson (17).

Jase Greunke placed second among 12-year-old boys with a pull of 19 feet but will not be able to compete in Sedalia due to turning 13 years old before the state event.

Area pedal pullers have one more chance to punch their ticket to Sedalia this coming Friday during the annual kids pedal tractor pull for ages four to 12 as part of the 79th Gasconade County Fair on the upper portion of Memorial Park starting at 6 p.m., with sign-ups being taken beginning at 5:30 p.m.
