August Emeral Griffith III, 72, of Bland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at Phelps Health in Rolla.
He was born Sept. 2, 1951, to August E. II and Muriel Clara (Rudge) Griffith in St. Louis.
He was united in marriage to Donna Barbieri, March 11, 1972, in St. Louis.
August was a police officer in St. Louis and assistant chief in Owensville. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, August II and Muriel; brother, Ronnie Griffith; nephew, Nick Barbieri; and bonus children, Robert Barber and Lindel L. Hahn II.
He is survived by wife, Donna of their home; daughters, Sara Herberger and husband Randy of Owensville and Maria Thomas and husband Dave of Bland; bonus child, Becky Keeney of New Haven; grandchildren, Dalton Cash and wife Maria, Donaven Zelch and wife Laura, Eve Padgett and wife Ashley, Aidan Hahn, Hadley Herberger, Gage Seeley, Tommy Mertell, Sierra Thomas and Brian Thomas; great-grandchildren, Ayden Trest, Araya Sunshine Hahn, Bailee, Issaiah, Moanna and Malaki; brother-in-law, Larry Barbieri and wife Nora; nieces and nephews, Stacey Kroupa and husband Chuck, Craig Smith and wife Tracy and Brian Smith and wife Becky; extended family, Dave Cash, Luke Zelch, Kacey Dea and Kevin and Jennifer Padgett and family; and many more step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.
His body was cremated and no services are scheduled at this time.
